Made In Idyllwild presents OFF THE RECORD — Creative Challenge No. 1, a community-wide creative exhibition hosted by The Funky Bazaar in Idyllwild, California.

Your challenge starts with one forgotten vinyl record.

What happens next is entirely up to you.

Paint it. Sculpt it. Stitch it. Crochet it. Collage it. Carve it. Write on it. Build with it. Deconstruct it. Transform it.

Turn your record into fine art, fiber art, sculpture, assemblage, poetry, photography, fashion, functional art—or something we haven't imagined.

Professional artists, makers, craftspeople, students, hobbyists and first-time exhibitors are all welcome.

Each record is vintage/previously owned and will vary. The surprise is part of the challenge.

THE ONLY BIG RULE

Your supplied vinyl record must remain recognizably incorporated into your finished creation.

Beyond that?

Surprise us.

You may paint, cut, drill, stitch, sculpt, embellish, weave, attach, combine or otherwise creatively transform your record, provided the finished piece is safe, stable and suitable for public exhibition.

**Finished work must be delivered to The Funky Bazaar in Idyllwild by the artwork deadline**. Creators who have their entry record shipped are responsible for arranging delivery or shipment of their completed artwork to the gallery.

Honoring The Funky Bazaar's founder and his enduring appreciation for the underdogs, underground, independent and non-mainstream creatives. This award celebrates originality, fearless experimentation and creative nonconformity.

Recognizing a creation that particularly captures the character, creative spirit, natural environment or sense of place of our Idyllwild mountain community.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD

Selected by visitors to the exhibition.

WANT TO SELL YOUR CREATION?

Yes!

Creators may choose to offer their finished work for sale during the exhibition.

Creator receives 75% of the artwork selling price.
The Funky Bazaar receives a 25% gallery commission.

The Funky Bazaar will provide gallery display, customer service, payment processing and an online exhibition listing, with online purchasing and order fulfillment available for participating work.

BEFORE YOU ENTER

Purchasing this listing reserves your participation in the challenge and provides your vinyl record.

Finished work must be original creative work by the registered participant and appropriate for public exhibition. Work should arrive completely finished, dry, stable and ready to display. Wall-hanging pieces should include an appropriate hanging method.

By participating, creators authorize Made In Idyllwild and The Funky Bazaar to photograph submitted work and use those photographs, with creator attribution where practical, for exhibition publicity, website content, social media, press and future promotion of the Creative Challenge Series.

Additional exhibition and artwork intake information will be provided to registered creators.
