Peter Buhl 

The Funky Bazaar was the vision of our late founder, Peter Buhl—a dreamer, collector, and true showman of the strange. With an eye for oddities and a heart for storytelling, Peter transformed a three-story building in the heart of Idyllwild into a living theater of curiosities.

Known for his mischievous grin and knack for finding treasures in the most unexpected places, Peter believed that shopping should be a playful adventure, full of delight, surprise, and a touch of the bizarre. He filled the Bazaar with art, antiques, vintage vinyls, rare books and eccentric finds, creating a place where people could gather, explore, and connect.

Though Peter passed away in 2025, his spirit continues to guide the Bazaar. Every corner of the shop still carries his love of the unusual and his dedication to keeping Idyllwild weird, wonderful, and wild. We carry on his legacy with pride, ensuring that The Funky Bazaar continues on as Peter has created a venue for the curious, the creative, and the delightfully unconventional.
